Again Bracknell will be hosting the Berkshire Challenge cup this year from August 6th to 14th.
We are hoping to build on the success of last year’s Inaugural tournament.
The tournament is open to 16 and over who are members of a club in Berkshire or who live in Berkshire for men and ladies singles events.
Men's winner: James Mckinnon Runner up: George Elawure
Ladies winner Rebecca Howard Runner up: Marta Sebestyen
Men's Consolation winner: Chris Hicks
Runner up: Adam Sebestyen
'Becca Howard and Patrick Warburton emerged triumphant on Finals day, in blustery but dry conditions. Patrick won a very high-class affair against Andy Fryatt, clinching most of the crucial points to win 6-1, 6-1, while 'Becca played a humdinger against Maggie that saw 'Becca win 7-6, 3-6, 6-1. It was a relief to the organisers that 'Bertha didn't cause too many problems after she passed through - remember Friday's near washout - who could forget Liem's epic match with Norman on a rainy Friday night ??. The consolation event also saw back-to-back matches, with Than Liem Thanh beating Tim Kingcott 6-2, 6-1 in the final.

August Ratings Tournament 28th Jul - 5th Aug
Igor Wietthoff, of Le Mans, France broke English hearts to carry the 27th 'August Ratings' winners cup (and trophy) back to France. Enthusiastic crowds, thrilling tennis - over the last 9 days - saw the 32 man draw produce one winner on Sunday 5th August!
It all started with the 'Super Saturday' of tennis with launch BBQ in glorious sunshine on Sat 28th July - and competed well with the gold rush of the Olympics on TV - luckily roaming iPads, iPhones and other wireless devices around the lounge meant one eye could also be fixed on Olympic events!
By the time the 2nd Super Saturday (semi-finals night) arrived on Sat 4th, the top guns had steamrolled their way through the draw, producing some top quality tennis. All of which led nicely to 'Le Plat' - the main draw final on Sunday. Igor confirmed his credentials as favourite triumphing 6-1, 6-4 over Charles Durham from Caversham, who had a terrific tournament. Overall, the tournament (and the weather) provided us with a great tournament atmosphere, outstanding tennis and yet again a sporting spectacle to savour on the Bracknell sporting calendar. We'll do it all again next May (and August)!
